FAQs
The aviation camp includes both breakfast and lunch, dynamic instruction, field trips, and both simulation and real flight time.
The camp covers powered and unpowered flight aerodynamics, airplane flight controls, reading flight instruments, and airport design. Students also engage in practical projects such as building hot air balloons and studying wing airfoils.
Students will spend the week at Camp Boddie in partnership with Scouts of America.
The camp focuses on Boat Hull Theory and Design, boating safety, and marine ecology. Students engage in hands-on projects at the STEM Center and participate in kayaking, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
Students spend the camp learning about different renewable energy sources to allow them to best defend what renewable energy source would provide the greatest potential energy for a given landscape or scenario. They complete research to defend their position for their presentation.
This camp exposes students to the history of aviation, basics of aerodynamics, weather in relation to drones, airspace, drone flight, and drone coding. Students get time each day actively flying drones and practicing flying drones through obstacles.
Each camp is structured around a central theme (e.g., Aviation, Boating, Renewable Energy, Drones) and includes a combination of direct instruction, hands-on projects, and field trips. Participants can expect to gain a deeper understanding of the STEM concepts related to the camp’s focus, engage with professionals in the field, and develop practical skills that extend beyond the classroom.
Students should bring essentials such as a water bottle, appropriate clothing for the activities (e.g., swimwear when applicable, comfortable attire for physical activities), and any required personal items like sunscreen or specific medical equipment (e.g., inhalers). Specific details and a checklist will be provided upon registration. Most importantly we want students to come with a positive attitude and an open mind eager to learn.
Safety is our top priority at all IBX STEM Camps. Each camp follows stringent safety protocols, including but not limited to: professional instruction in all activities, proper use of safety gear, and supervised learning environments. For water-related camps, we ensure that all aquatic activities are closely monitored by certified lifeguards and instructors.
The IBX Stem Camps are designed for rising 5th through 8th grades and high school/college-aged students who serve as Team Leaders. Specific age requirements may vary slightly between different camp programs, so it’s best to refer to the specific camp details for precise eligibility criteria.
Registration for our camps can be completed online through our website. We offer scholarships for eligible participants to ensure that no child is denied a great learning experience due to financial constraints. Scholarship availability and criteria are listed on each camp’s registration page.
