This two week Boating camp will include a variety of learning experiences. These experiences will consist of hands-on projects the students conduct at the STEM Center to re-enforce boating related STEM principles.
Boat hull theory, design curriculum and buoyancy concepts with a water testing component are part of the boating camp.
Field trips to several US Coast Guard bases and local boat manufacturers in Beaufort County and Pitt County will be conducted as part of the youth workforce development initiative. The US Coast Guard Auxiliary instructors teach several blocks of instruction that pertain to boating safety, education, and visiting Coast Guard ships and bases.
Students also get to enjoy kayaking, activities with the NC Estuarium, North Carolina Maritime Museum, snorkeling and scuba diving.
This camp will offer a fitness and life-skills component, free breakfast and lunch with daily swimming lessons.

Students will spend the week at Camp Boddie in partnership with Scouts of America.
The camp focuses on Boat Hull Theory and Design, boating safety, and marine ecology. Students engage in hands-on projects at the STEM Center and participate in kayaking, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
